Clearing the way…
Everything feels better when our minds are clear.
In fact, you could argue that having a clear mind is essential for our sense of positive wellbeing since metal clarity makes us feel more energized and more in control of our lives, thus reducing stress and enabling us to make better decisions.
Achieving clarity isn’t difficult but it does require conscious effort so in the next few days I will share with you ideas, suggestions and exercise all designed to help clear the way.
Action steps for Day 8
Mindfulness is a mental state of being in which you focus on the present moment and simply take notice. It is a state of awareness in which you are able to notice and acknowledge what is going on both inside you and your surroundings.
Here are 3 simple exercises to draw your attention to the small but important elements that make up your everyday life:
When you wake up, stay in bed and spend 5 minutes just looking at your bedroom. Notice the pictures on the wall or around you, the pieces of furniture and the way the light filters through the curtains, or feel the smell of your room.
Go out into the garden, stand on the balcony or just open the window. Close your eyes and listen to the sounds of the morning.
Make yourself a cup of coffee or you favorite drink and take 5-10 minutes to drink it. Do nothing else, simply be aware of how the cup feels in your hand, breathe in the aroma and savor the taste.
This is an excellent way to start your morning pages and do not forget to have fun and don’t put pressure on yourself, get creative and enjoy your writing.
