Morning Pages
The morning pages changed my life! But I couldn't have achieved great results without my soulful date. I have learned about these basic tools from Julia Cameron in her 12 weeks course “discovering and recovering your creative self” and since then I am giving away these tools to everyone in my life and all my clients. I will break it down for you because these basic tools go hand in hand on your discovery journey.
The morning pages
Do these pages daily besides all the other journaling assignments. So what are morning pages?
The morning pages are 3 pages of hand writing, strictly stream of consciousness. I also call this brain dump, since that is one of the main functions of the morning pages.
There is no wrong way to do this. Just remember that everything that you write down, all that angry, anxious and fearful stuff is standing between you and your creativity. Worrying about the job, the laundry, the weird sound in your car’s wheel, the strange behavior of your loved one etc - this stuff is spinning through your subconscious and makes your days quite tough.
Morning pages are nonnegotiable. Never skip or cut corners on morning pages as they will teach you to stop judging and just let yourself write. Just write your morning pages. Three pages of whatever crosses your mind - that’s all you need to do.
Just know that the morning pages do get you to the other side: the other side of fear, of your negativity, of your moods, and above all they get you beyond your inner critic or your own internalized perfectionist.
